Over 77,000 Jobs Unfilled in J&K: Government's Plan to Fill Positions on a Timetable
Jammu, February 11th: The Jammu and Kashmir government revealed a pressing issue in the Union Territory's workforce. In a legislative assembly session, it was disclosed that a staggering 77,099 positions across various departments remain unfilled, encompassing both direct recruitment and promotion quota roles.
In response to a query from MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone, the Minister In-Charge provided insights into the situation. They explained that the vacancies include direct quota posts already sent to recruitment agencies and those advertised for selection. The government is committed to filling these positions within a specified timeframe.
The breakdown of vacancies is as follows: 3,808 gazetted, 24,507 non-gazetted, and 12,351 MTS posts under the direct quota. Meanwhile, the promotion quota includes 6,409 gazetted, 24,451 non-gazetted, and 5,573 MTS posts.
To address this challenge, the government has implemented several strategies. These include identifying and referring posts to recruitment agencies, adhering to legal frameworks, planning recruitment cycles in advance, and closely monitoring the process at various stages. The goal is to streamline procedures, enhance collaboration with recruitment agencies, and utilize technology to expedite recruitment while ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.
Recruitment agencies have also released examination calendars for 2026, which are being strictly followed. This proactive approach aims to tackle the backlog of unfilled positions and ensure a fair and efficient hiring process for the future.
